Our Vision

At GTE, we believe the future of commerce is borderless.

For too long, global trade has worked against itself. A product travels from its maker to a regional warehouse, sits in storage, gets repackaged, and ships again to reach the person who wanted it. Every extra stop adds cost, time, and emissions, and the customer rarely sees the maker behind what they buy. We think there is a better way.

Our vision is to connect the world's best manufacturers directly with customers everywhere, regardless of where either of them happens to be. We operate a growing family of web shops across countries and categories, each one a doorway to products sourced from the people who actually make them best. Whether a craftsman in Kyoto, a textile mill in Portugal, or a precision engineer in Germany makes the finest version of something, that is the version our customers should be able to buy.

We believe globalisation, in the long run, will keep moving forward. Cross-border shipping will keep getting faster, cheaper, and more reliable. Direct-to-customer fulfilment from origin will eventually replace the wasteful double-shipping model that dominates e-commerce today, and the result will be lower emissions, less warehousing, and a more honest relationship between makers and buyers. We are building for that future, and we are working actively to help bring it about.

This is a long-term commitment. The logistics infrastructure to support a truly borderless marketplace is still being built, and we are investing in it alongside our partners. We are patient because we believe the destination is worth it: a world where the best products are available to anyone, anywhere, shipped in the most efficient way possible, with manufacturers and customers brought closer together rather than separated by layers of middlemen.

Our ambition is to become the largest e-commerce company in the world, not by owning warehouses on every continent, but by building the network that makes them unnecessary. One company, many brands, countless makers, and customers everywhere.

That is the future we are working toward, one shipment at a time.

The story of GTE

How it started

GTE was founded 8 years ago from a bedroom with only a laptop by Thomas Mulder (CEO). What started as a way to be able to gain some extra freedom for himself, turned out to become something much bigger.

Starting with just one small webshop in the Netherlands, now turned into a large portfolio of online stores.

Freedom and Responsibility

From the beginning GTE was a remote-first company, with team members from all over the world. At GTE freedom is a big part of our culture. Freedom in how, when and where you work. Freedom is not for everyone. Hard work is number one at GTE, that is why we only work with people who can handle the responsibility that comes with freedom.

Growth

Our team has grown from less than 30 people in 2023, to over 150 people by now. Our revenue's have doubled each year, but we are nowhere near our end goal yet.

GTE is determined to become the biggest e-commerce company worldwide.
